Construction Worker Killed in Work Accident at Concord School

A worker was killed at a construction site at a local Concord school after a construction crane collided with him last month.

The worker was operating the crane when the equipment malfunctioned, which caused the fatal construction site accident. The worker, a 55-year-old man from Sutton, was pronounced dead at the scene. Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan said Concord and State Police are both aware of the incident and are working to assess the situation.

No construction site accident is easier to get through than another, but deaths on site are always tragic for the entire community. Construction sites are often filled with hazards or equipment that can become dangerous, even when operated by trained and licensed workers. Sometimes, the causes behind tragic work accidents are completely out of the hands of on-site workers.

The conditions for Massachusetts workers are not improving, which makes it ever more so important to make sure you are well-protected in the event of an accident. a report published last year by the Massachusetts AFL-CIO found that work-related deaths were up to an 11-year high of 64 fatalities in 2017. with over 160 thousand employees working in construction in the state of Massachusetts, the odds are that you or a loved one could potentially be facing the reality of a construction site accident sooner rather than later.

Accidents happen, but that does not mean you have to give up and let them control your life. Recovering the workers’ compensation you may be entitled to—or that your family may be entitled to in the event of a fatal accident—could help you move on from whatever setback these accidents may inflict on you and your way of life.
